The hardware and software
What is FluidNC?
FluidNC is open-source CNC firmware for ESP32 controllers. It runs CNC routers, laser cutters, plotters and plasma tables, and it is set up with a simple config file instead of recompiling firmware. Every dpCREATOR product is built around it.
What is the dpCREATOR R3 controller?
A 4-axis FluidNC CNC controller built on the ESP32-S3, with wired Ethernet, Wi-Fi, an RS485 port for a VFD spindle, an SD card you can reach over the network, a probe input and a dedicated port for the SmartTabUI pendant with a hardware E-stop. It is assembled, flashed and tested before it ships.
What comes with a dpCREATOR controller?
The board comes with the dpCREATOR WebUI licence, dpCREATOR Studio Basic for designing jobs, and firmware updates you install from your browser, all at no extra cost.
What is the SmartTabUI pendant?
A handheld pendant with a 2.8" touchscreen, an MPG handwheel with axis and step selectors and a hardware E-stop. It follows the running job, shows where to resume after a stop, and lets you measure parts and trace offcuts for Studio from the machine. It is built for dpCREATOR controllers running dpCREATOR FluidNC firmware. You can buy it assembled, or build your own with the firmware licence. The 3D print files for the case are free for everyone.
What is the dpCREATOR WebUI?
The control panel that runs on the controller and opens in any browser on your network: DRO, jogging, overrides, a 3D toolpath view, the file manager on the SD card, job recovery after a stop, and measure, retrace and Z adjust while a job runs. Try it in the live demo.
Is dpCREATOR Studio free?
Studio Basic is free. It runs in your browser: draw shapes and text, import SVG, DXF, PDF or a picture, see the job carved in virtual material and make the g-code. Studio Pro is a paid upgrade that adds tools for production work, such as laser, 3D relief, V-carve and surfacing.
Does Studio work with other FluidNC controllers?
Yes. Studio Basic works with any FluidNC controller. With a dpCREATOR controller it can also be installed on the board itself and send jobs straight to the machine.
Firmware and setup
How do I install or update the firmware?
From your browser, with no tools to install. Open the Flash Firmware page in Chrome or Edge, connect the board with a USB cable and press Install. Log in to your account first, so the page can offer the firmware you own. The dpCREATOR controller firmware is free for registered customers.
Where do I find the documentation?
Setup guides, wiring, the pendant build and release notes are in the documentation.
Orders and delivery
When can I order the R3 controller or the pendant?
The R3 and the assembled pendant are made in batches. While a product shows "Coming soon", orders are not open yet. Subscribe to the newsletter at the bottom of any page and we'll tell you when they open.
How do I get digital products after I buy them?
Right after payment. Pendant firmware is flashed from the Flash Firmware page while you are logged in. Once delivery of a digital product has started, the right of withdrawal no longer applies.
Where do you ship, and what does it cost?
Shipping costs and delivery times are shown at checkout before you order and on the Delivery and returns page. You get a tracking number by email when the parcel leaves. Outside the EU, import duties and taxes may apply.
Can I return hardware?
Yes. As a consumer you can withdraw from a hardware purchase within 14 days of receiving it, without giving a reason. Faulty products are covered by the 2-year legal guarantee. Contact us before sending anything back, because many problems can be solved with a configuration or firmware fix. The details are on the Delivery and returns page.
Help and community
How do I get help?
Start with the documentation. If you're still stuck, open a support ticket or email info@dpcreator.eu. For questions about an order, write to orders@dpcreator.eu with your order number.
What is the R&D Club?
A small group of makers who build and test the SmartTabUI pendant and the dpCREATOR WebUI on their own machines before launch and report back. Read about the R&D Club and follow their builds.
